Seven Minutes

SEVEN MINUTES (T. Stebbins) –––––––––––––––––––––––– VERSE 1: “This is what I hate about you”, You whisper to me, and still I listen How much of the world has gone by I’m unaware of the time I’m missin’ PRECHORUS: You are such a big part of me And I know you’re coming to stay Now we’re running into the start of the game I don’t want to play CHORUS: Give me seven minutes of a day could you be quiet Fill my head with phrases unkind, is there Anywhere that I can go to make you silent I’m so tired of feeling I’m out of my mind VERSE 2 “This is what I’ll do about you”, I’m gonna tell you, it’s over for us You’re one of a thousand voices You’re striking the harp to join the chorus

about

No, the song isn’t seven minutes long. (Coincidentally, it’s closer to 4 minutes and 20 seconds, which is still pretty nice.) I decided to write instead about the idea of confronting one’s inner voices— they may not go away, but perhaps they can be tamed and managed. “Seven Minutes” flowed lyrically, and then it worked as a more interesting title than “Out Of My Mind” imo. Certainly more meaningful to the song’s lyrics than the project name, “Trifecta”, anyway.
